Rockets star James Harden says he needs the MVP award and he’s going to get it

Houston Rockets star James Harden says he needs to win the MVP award this season and claims that he is going to get it.

James Harden won the MVP last season after leading the league in scoring and guiding the Rockets to the best record in the NBA.

The Beard and Houston got off to a slow start this year, but they have turned things around ever since. The Rockets have won 10 of their last 11 games, with Harden putting up video game numbers.

In 15 games in December, Harden averaged 36.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists. He scored over 30 points 12 times, had one 50-point game, and finished the month off by scoring at least 40 points in four straight matches.

More importantly, the Rockets went 11-4 in December and are 21-15 on the season, good for fourth place in the Western Conference standings. With the way Harden has single-handedly led his team in the wild West, he has to be included in the MVP conversation whether people like the way he plays or not.

Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is the last player to win back-to-back MVP awards. The offensive load Harden is carrying right now is substantial since Chris Paul and Eric Gordon are out with injuries. If Harden keeps putting up these staggering numbers while leading Houston to wins, it’s going to be hard not to give him his second straight MVP award.
