Rockets star James Harden reacts to breaking record previously held by Oscar Robertson
Houston Rockets star James Harden is pretty excited about being mentioned alongside Oscar Robertson after breaking an NBA record in Monday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Harden went for 43 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds, which allowed him to secure his eighth consecutive performance with at least 35 points and five assists while breaking Robertson’s previous record of seven.
Harden seems to be honored to have a chance to be in the same discussion with a former NBA great like Robertson, according to Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston:
James Harden on breaking Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson’s record of 7 consec games w/at least 35 points & 5 assists.Harden gets #8 Monday night:”With Oscar,we know how great he was & he has so many records that he holds.Just to be mentioned in the same breath as him, means a lot”

Harden’s stellar play should surprise no one at this point, as he just keeps finding numerous ways to impact the game.
He’s now averaging 33.3 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game, with Harden scoring 41 or more points in four straight games.
His impressive streak has given the Rockets a major boost after the disappointing 11-14 start to the season, and they’ve completely turned things around by winning five straight and 10 of their last 11.
Many people wondered if Houston would be able to get back on the right track, but with Harden on the court, it probably should have never been in doubt.
The Rockets will attempt to keep their streak going Thursday night when they head to Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers, with Houston winning both meetings between the teams thus far this season.
After that, Harden and company will prepare for a matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday in Portland.
