Houston Rockets star shooting guard James Harden surpassed Paul Pierce on Friday with his 2,144th career made 3-pointer. Harden, 30, is now eighth all-time in the NBA in 3-pointers made.

The seven-time All-Star and former league MVP is only trailing Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Jason Terry and Jamal Crawford as former players ahead of him (although Crawford isn’t officially retired). However, Harden is behind active players in Stephen Curry, Kyle Korver and Vince Carter on the all-time list.
Harden is currently leading his team to contend in the loaded Western Conference. Alongside Russell Westbrook — another former MVP — Harden and the Rockets are 16-8 on the 2019-20 season entering Friday against the Orlando Magic in central Florida.
Harden leads his team in scoring and passing, averaging 38.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 44 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from 3-point range and 88.1 percent from the free throw line.
Along with his potent long-range shooting ability, Harden has also scored a string of 50-point games this season, four in total to be exact, and is coming off a 55-point outing against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
However, Hall of Fame forward Scottie Pippen called the achievement “nothing.”
“(Harden’s) looking at guys like Westbrook, they’re wide open and he’s still launching shots. To see him score 55 is nothing because he’s shooting every shot almost,” Pippen said.
Despite less than praise from an NBA great, Harden keeps chugging along and will likely continue to break records.
