Rockets star James Harden passes LeBron James for most 50-point games among active NBA players

James Harden, LeBron James

Houston Rockets star James Harden once again had another incredible scoring performance against the Brooklyn Nets, and that allowed him to pass LeBron James for most 50-point games among active NBA players.

This is the second straight game Harden has scored 55+ points. Per Mike Zavagno of Fear the Sword, Harden has scored 114 straight points unassisted.

Harden’s ability as an isolation scorer is not only remarkable but record-setting. He is the best iso scorer in all of basketball, bar none. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving can’t even match this production.

So far this season Harden has averaged 34.8 points per game, 6.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from beyond the arc.

This kind of offensive efficiency and production the NBA hasn’t seen since perhaps Kobe Bryant in the early 2000s.

The Rockets had struggled early on this season. Chris Paul was on and off injured and seemed to be a shell of himself when he was able to play. They lost out on their two wings players that allowed them to be one of the best defenses in the NBA the previous season.

Trevor Ariza signed a one year contract with the Phoenix Suns and Luc Mbah a Moute signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This has really hurt their depth. They could hardly get by before picking up Austin Rivers on waivers from the Phoenix Suns. P.J. Tucker is leading the team in minutes and has been called to carry on a huge defensive load.

The Rockets are now 26-18 on the season and sit 4th in the NBA’s Western Conference.

They will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Saturday.
