Rockets star James Harden offers strong response to his critics

James Harden

Houston Rockets star James Harden isn’t your typical NBA shooting guard.

As a matter of fact, he’s far from it, if we’re being perfectly blunt.

The Rockets shooting guard has once again made his case for MVP, currently averaging a league-high 36.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists.

It would’ve been hard to suggest that Harden could get any better than he was last year, but guess what, he really has.

Not only has the 29-year-old veteran proved to be atop the league’s most durable scoring weapons, but he’s now rightfully admitted himself into the all-time best discussion – hate it or love it, but it’s true.

Either way it goes, Harden’s not going to bellow in sadness over any menial criticism.

“I appreciate the haters,” Harden told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “They motivate me to be better than I was the year before. That’s what it’s about. You’re always going to have somebody who doesn’t like what you do or downplays what you do or can’t relate to you. Which is fine. Nothing against them, but that’s a part of life.

“I don’t have nothing to prove to anybody. When you know you’re comfortable within your own self, and you go out there and be yourself every single night and every single day, that’s pretty cool.”

The Houston Rockets are 32-22, and have won five of their last seven games, piloted by Harden’s historic streak of 28 consecutive games with 30-plus points.

Both will look to keep the momentum going against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday.
