The Houston Rockets have signed undrafted Brandon Sampson out of LSU.
Via their Twitter account, the Rockets shared the news that they’ve signed Sampson, a 6-foot-5 guard who played for three years in LSU. He declared for the 2018 NBA Draft but was not selected.

An additional report by Andrew Lopez of The Times-Picayune revealed that Sampson signed an Exhibit 10 contract which would allow the Rockets to have him on a two-way contract with their G League affiliate — the Rio Grande Valley Vipers — if they have one of their two two-way spots available.
Exhibit 10 deals are worth the minimum salary for one year. A player could earn up to a $50,000 bonus if he stays with the team’s G League squad.
In six Summer League games, Sampson logged in 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds. His best season with LSU came in his sophomore year when he averaged 11.6 points on 47.5 percent shooting. In his junior year, an ankle injury kept him out for six games but he managed to average 7.7 points and shoot 35.0 percent from downtown.
Brandon Sampson was originally set to sign the contract with the Rockets in September. However, the unfortunate murder of his LSU teammate, Wayde Sims, delayed the deal. Sampson served as the pallbearer in Sims’ funeral.
