The Houston Rockets have signed G League standout Michael Frazier for the remainder of the season, general manager Daryl Morey announced Sunday:
Roster Update: Rockets GM Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed guard Michael Frazier for the remainder of the season. Frazier was named the 2018-19 NBA G League Most Improved Player after averaging 16.5PTS, 5.5REB, 3.4AST & 1.3STL for the @RGVVipers. pic.twitter.com/YZ1ovkkWuT

Frazier will join the Rockets and will assume a reserve role for the squad. He may be given a few minutes of action in the team’s final couple of games of the regular season, but the 6-foot-5 shooting guard is not expected to have a significant place in the team’s rotation moving forward.
Nonetheless, the Rockets might need to call upon Frazier should injuries come into play in a grueling postseason. Hopefully, this won’t be the case for Houston as it looks to improve on last season’s runner-up finish in the Western Conference.
The Rockets will first need to focus on their first-round matchup in the playoffs. Currently, they are sitting in the third spot with a 52-28 record. They are, however, just a game and a half behind the second-place Denver Nuggets. With two games remaining, Houston could get lucky and snag the second spot.
If things don’t go their way in the final week of the regular season, the Rockets could fall to fourth, with the Portland Blazers currently breathing down their neck at just a game and a half behind in the standings.
The bottom half of the West playoff picture is exciting as well. It is currently uncertain who the Rockets will end up facing, as they may end up pitted against either the Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, or San Antonio Spurs.
