Rockets’ Russell Westbrook vows to help James Harden become ‘one of the best scorers of all time’

James Harden continues to take on most of the offensive load for the Houston Rockets and his teammate and fellow superstar Russell Westbrook is fine with that.

In fact, Westbrook recently vowed to help his backcourt mate become one of the best scorers of all time, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

“Amazing, I think that a lot of people like to normalize greatness when you see it over & over. But it’s not normal because there’s nobody else that can do it. He’s put himself in position to be 1 of the best scorers of all time. I’m just here to help him,” Westbrook said of Harden after the latter’s 36-point output against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Houston extended its NBA-best eight-game winning streak, handing the Blazers a 24-point defeat on Monday.

The Beard is still the NBA’s top scorer, averaging an astounding 39.5 points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field and 34 percent from three in Houston’s first 14 games of the season.

Harden’s scoring average is the highest the league has ever seen in the past 50 seasons. He also recently become the 4th player in NBA history to average 43 points in a seven-game span.

The one-time league MVP still gets flak for his supposed lack of defense from time to time, but there’s no denying that he is truly one of the most gifted scorers the league has ever seen.

Westbrook, meanwhile, isn’t doing too bad in his first season in Texas. He dropped his first triple-double in a Rockets uniform, tallying 28 points, 13 boards and 10 assists versus Portland.
