Rockets’ Russell Westbrook set to enter NBA bubble

Rockets, Russell Westbrook, Bleacher Report

Houston Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni revealed Monday that star point guard Russell Westbrook is flying to Orlando to join the team in the NBA bubble:

Westbrook recently announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus, rendering him unable to join the Rockets in Disney World. D’Antoni was unsure if the point guard would be available for Friday’s scrimmage, but he noted it would be good to get him back out on the practice floor soon as the season approaches.

The Rockets recently got their leading scorer back in James Harden, who was delayed in travel after staying behind for a few days in Houston. The Beard rejoined the team last week, surrounded by a wave of controversy after wearing the “Thin Blue Line” face mask that stirred plenty of discussion.

Harden argued there was no intent with his wearing of the mask, rather choosing it because it was long enough to cover his whole beard.

Now that the Rockets’ big guns have arrived in Orlando, the job is not over yet, as Houston will be fighting for the easiest matchup available in the first round.

Due to a nonexistent home court advantage at the Walt Disney World bubble, teams will instead hunt for the best matchup possible in the last eight games of the truncated regular season.

Westbrook was on a tear in the last month-and-a-half of the season before it came to a halt, finally regaining his footing in a new role with his new team.
