Rockets’ Russell Westbrook learns how he’d look with James Harden’s beard

Houston Rockets point guard Russell Westbrook sat down for a wide-ranging interview on Tuesday night’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” As part of his guest appearance, the former UCLA standout learned what he might look like with a beard of James Harden’s caliber:

“Would you ever grow a James Harden beard?” Fallon asked Westbrook.

“See, this is the problem,” Westbrook replied with a smile. “I’ve never shaved in my life, so what I’ve got is what I’ve got. That’s it. … I’ve been growing this for about… 30 years.”

Westbrook, who joined the Rockets this offseason by way of a blockbuster trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, seemed to approve of the idea of having a Harden-like beard:

“It ain’t bad,” Westbrook replied while rubbing his chin. “See, look at that. It’s not bad. If only I could grow it.”

Westbrook, now 30 years of age, should be a fine addition to Houston’s roster. He made 73 appearances with the Thunder last season, racking up averages of 22.9 points on 42.8 percent shooting from the field (29.0 percent from beyond the arc), 11.1 rebounds, a career-high 10.7 assists and 1.9 steals in 36.0 minutes per outing.

The Rockets finished the 2018-19 regular-season campaign with a 53-29 overall record, which earned the team a No. 4 seed in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, though, Houston was defeated by the Golden State Warriors in the second round, 4-2.
