The Houston Rockets are having no problem dealing with the Oklahoma City Thunder so far in their first round series even though Russell Westbrook hasn’t played yet. Nonetheless, the All-Star point guard still makes his mark for the Rockets on the sidelines. In fact, Rockets forward Jeff Green admitted he is getting incredibly tired of Westbrook’s antics on the bench.
“What you see is what you get with Russ. Even though he’s not playing, it feels like he is because his attention to detail and his focus and his demeanor is like he is playing,” Green said. “That’s Russ 24/7. I love it.”
Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni also stressed how important Westbrook is for their team.
“Russell’s personality is a big part of the team, even when he’s hurt,” D’Antoni said. “He does what he has to do to talk to players and get him going and give us support.”
Reports indicate that the former league MVP will remain out in Game 3 on Saturday, marking his fifth consecutive game on the injury list. Nonetheless, Westbrook did do some on-court drills on Friday. This should be music to the ears of Rockets fans.

Obviously, the 12-year veteran is just taking a light-hearted jab at his teammate. Green clarified that though injuries prevent him from making his impact on the court, Westbrook still lets his passion and determination resonate, whether it be discussing game plans with coach Mike D’Antoni, calling out plays on the sidelines, or arguing with the referees while in street clothes.
