It is starting to heat up, folks. It is starting to heat up. Of course, we’re talking about the free agency rumor mill which is already churning out interesting tidbits of gossips pertaining to the upcoming expirations of several NBA deals. Take for example this intriguing detail shared by unnamed sources to Kelly Iko of USA TODAY, which tells just how much L.A. Clippers center DeAndre Jordan wants to get out of his current team.

According to one source, Jordan was in the ears of multiple Rockets players throughout the 2017-2018 season, expressing his longtime desire to play in his hometown.

Jordan, of course, holds his own destiny this offseason, as he has can ditch his player option with the Clippers for the 2018-19 season.

While Houston appears to be Jordan’s destination of choice, the logistics for that to happen is not going to be easy. For one, the Rockets have expressed their intention of keeping big man Clint Capela, a soon-to-be restricted free agent. However, that is not set in stone, meaning there’s always the probability of Houston making a long and hard look at Jordan.

Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has stated multiple times that he will match any offer sheet that comes his way for the 23-year-old Capela, but in the unlikely event that Houston lets him walk, Jordan remains a strong contingency plan.

Jordan played 77 games for the Clippers in 2017-18, averaging 12.0 points on 64.5 percent shooting from the field, 15.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks.
