Rockets reveal new uniforms for 2019-20 season

James Harden, Rockets

The Houston Rockets have revealed their new uniforms for the 2019-20 NBA season.

The first two new are the red “icon” and white “Association” jerseys, per a press release on the Rockets’ official website.

The red ‘icon’ and white ‘Association’ jerseys showcase significant changes including a new ‘Rockets’ font, modernized side panels, and the inclusion of black as a core color.

The new custom font moves away from the past gothic typeface for a clearer and more streamlined look. The side panels evoke a rocket launch with propulsion trails at the bottom of the shorts.

Emphasizing black as a core color became a priority after the black statement jerseys, which Houston debuted in 2016-17, became a big hit with the fans. The official website confirms “that uniform will continue to be used in the upcoming season.”

Superstar guard James Harden and Co. will also sport a ketchup-and-mustard-colored classic jersey which commemorates the 25th year of the franchise’s consecutive NBA titles in the 1994-15 NBA season.

These classic jerseys are strikingly similar to what Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler wore back then. However, “The jersey and shorts will be made with current performance material,” per the Rockets’ press release.

According to their official website, they will also unveil a fourth jersey, the “City” jersey,  sometime in November. The press release says it will “evoke Houston’s history and present.” Long story short, it will be an “out of this world” kind of jersey.

Rockets fans hope these stylish new threads can help the team win a third championship in the 2019-20 NBA season. After all, it’s been a long time coming.
