Rockets possibly in the mix for Rodney Hood
Despite suffering a massive dip in Rodney Hood’s stats across the board, the Houston Rockets do not appear to be scared of gambling on the lefty shooter. According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, Hood may have been in contact with the top regular season team in 2017-18.
As transcribed by HoopsHype:
“There’s been reports of some discussions between the Kings and Rodney, and maybe the Rockets and Rodney…”
Hood is coming off a year where got traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers that resulted to dives in his numbers. From averaging 16.8 points for the Utah Jazz, he was limited to 10.8 markers nightly while donning the wine and gold. Things only got worse for Hood in the playoffs as he continued to fall out of head coach Tyronn Lue’s graces.
Houston had just lost Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute to free agency, but a potential arrival of Hood could make up for some of the lost production caused by the two departures. When being utilized the right way, Hood projects as a valuable three-and-D player in today’s NBA due to his sweet-shooting skills and length.
The Rockets won’t find it easy. Hood is a restricted free agent, giving the Cavs the power to match any offer and immediately retaining his services in such event.
