Rockets’ PJ Tucker knows Chris Paul is itching to beat Houston

Houston Rockets veteran forward PJ Tucker is well aware that Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star point guard Chris Paul is motivated to beat Houston in the playoffs.

The Rockets traded Paul to the Thunder last offseason for Russell Westbrook. Now, the two teams will meet in the first round of the 2020 playoffs and Tucker knows Paul is itching to get some revenge against the Rockets.

“It’ll be fun,” PJ Tucker said about facing Chris Paul, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chornicle.

“This is interesting. After the trade last year, knowing him, he wants this bad. I know how bad he wants this. I know he’s on the other side telling guys what guys are going to do, kind of trying to give our game plan I know how competitive he is. It’s going to be an interesting series. It’s going to be fun. I’m looking forward to it, for sure.”

The Rockets and Thunder finished with the same record in the 2019-20 season. That’s quite impressive when you consider Houston has two MVPs in James Harden and Westbrook and most pundits said Paul was washed.

Knowing the type of competitor Paul is, the future Hall of Famer is likely salivating at the thought of knocking out James Harden and the Rockets in the playoffs — especially since Paul and Harden reportedly had beef behind closed doors during the 2018-19 season.

Paul averaged 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.7 assists with the Thunder this season. He finished his two years with the Rockets putting up 17.1 points and 8.0 assists per game.
