Rockets PG Chris Paul says he has never seen anyone play as well as James Harden is right now

Houston Rockets All-Star point guard Chris Paul says he has never seen anyone play as well as James Harden is right now.

James Harden, who leads the NBA in scoring, has been putting up video game numbers since Chris Paul went down with a left hamstring injury on Dec. 20 against the Miami Heat.

The reigning MVP is averaging 43.2 points in the 13 games Houston has played without Chris Paul. James Harden has scored at least 32 points in every game during that stretch, produced seven 40-plus point games, and two 50-point games.

It’s a scoring tear NBA fans have been marveling at, and Chris Paul is in awe as well.

Overall on the season, James Harden is averaging 35.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game while shooting 43.8 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from beyond the arc and 86.5 percent from the free-throw line. The six-time All-Star has 18 double-doubles and six triple-doubles on the year.

As expected, James Harden leads the league in usage percentage at 40.0. Usage percentage is an estimate of the percentage of team plays used by a player when he is on the floor. As long as Chris Paul is out, that percentage is going to be very high for Harden.

The Rockets, after getting off to a slow start to the season, are 25-19 on the year, good for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.
