Rockets’ P.J. Tucker details keys to stopping Lakers stars LeBron James, Anthony Davis

During his media session on Friday, Houston Rockets power forward P.J. Tucker talked about the difficulty of stopping Los Angeles Lakers superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Tucker, arguably the Rockets’ best defender, will defend Davis to start Game 1 on Friday, and he’s going to have his hands full since he’s only 6-foot-5 and Davis is 6-foot-10 and one of the best players in the NBA.

Tucker opened up about his strategy to stop the two Lakers stars:

The Athletic’s Kelly Iko has more on Tucker and the Rockets’ game plan:

“Yea, you gotta do that on a lot of good players in this league,” P.J. Tucker said.

“LeBron, Giannis, and even guys like Shai, Schroder, and CP. You gotta form walls. It’s hard to guard guys one-on-one in transition in this league. He’s too good of a scorer, too fast, too strong. Especially in transition, you gotta show bodies, get control of the ball a little bit. It’s something we’ll always have to do no matter who we playing.”

Most pundits believe the Lakers will defeat the Rockets since Houston plays small ball and doesn’t have a big man who can properly defend Anthony Davis.

The Rockets will likely put small forward Robert Covington on LeBron James, who averaged a triple-double in the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers.

P.J. Tucker plays with a lot of heart, so you know he’s going to give it his all against Davis in the post. The Rockets, though, will have to show AD a lot of bodies in this series.
