After Hurricane Harvey left the city of Houston severely damaged, NBA players have done their part in helping out the victims in different ways. From raising awareness on social media, to donating money and other much needed goods, they’ve made sure they share their blessings to those in need.

The latest member of the NBA community to follow suit is former Rockets player Tracy McGrady, who recently hosted a Labor Day barbecue in Houston’s Third Ward.

Tracy McGrady was also interviewed by Houston Chronicle’s Jonathan Feigen, where he talked about setting up the event together with his wife and friends. Surprisingly, they were able to make it happen after only planning it for less than a day.

“We put it together in less than 24 hours,” Tracy McGrady said. “We have a lot of food, a lot of friends and family helping out. We’re going to feed the whole community. There is a lot to go around a couple times. That’s a small thing. The biggest thing is to get people away from the devastation to bring some happiness, some joyous times and some laughter. We all need that.”

The city may have been struck badly by the natural calamity, but it has brought people together, and the victims have also showed a lot of resiliency despite their tough situation. For the NBA players, they’ve been very generous by showing even more how active they are when it comes to helping communities in need around the country.
