It was recently reported that the Houston Rockets was sold to local billionaire Tilman Fertitta for a record price of $2.2 billion. Now being its new owner, the 60-year-old was already asked about his thoughts on having R&B superstar Beyonce as part of the team. He made it known that he would welcome having her in any capacity, as he understands how great of an ambassador she would be for the Rockets.

Fertitta spoke with TMZ, where he added that he would appreciate Beyonce joining his team, especially being a Houston native, and a fan of the Rockets.

“Beyoncé’s a wonderful, wonderful ambassador for Houston. To have anybody like Beyoncé to join my team in some capacity, I would truly appreciate. Beyoncé is Beyoncé. She’s our most favored woman in Houston. It’d be great to have her involved in any way.”

It can be recalled that after Leslie Alexander put up the Rockets for sale, Beyonce emerged as one of the possible buyers of a stake with the team. However, with Fertitta purchasing it completely, it still remains to be seen if he’ll pen up some stakes to investors in the future.

The Grammy Award winning artist is no stranger to how it is to be involved with an NBA franchise, as her husband, rap mogul Jay-Z, used to own a minority stake with the Brooklyn Nets. Should she become the same with the Rockets, or even an ambassador for them, it will a huge boost to the team’s popularity, as she has millions of fans around the world, being one of the most talented and recognizable artists today.
