Rockets news: James Harden convinced this is the best team he’s ever been on

James Harden and his band of merry Houston Rockets have been making noise in the league all year, and are now considered to be the only team with a legitimate chance of unseating the Golden State Warriors in a playoff series.

Harden, in addition to saying recently that “this is the year” the Rockets have a great chance of winning a title, believes the Houston team he is currently on is “top to bottom” the best team he has ever played for, per Jovan Buha of ESPN.

“The front office — [general manager] Daryl Morey and [CEO] Tad Brown — those guys did an unbelievable job,” Harden said. “From last year, bringing [Eric Gordon] and [Ryan Anderson] over. Then obviously adding [Chris Paul] and [PJ Tucker] and [Luc Mbah a Moute] and then you get [Gerald Green] and Joe Johnson.”

“This is probably the best team I’ve ever been a part of, from top to bottom. The chemistry that we have, included with the coaching staff — I mean, we’re having a lot of fun.”

Harden has been on some very good teams in the past. He made the NBA Finals with an Oklahoma City Thunder team that included Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. But that team was young and not ready yet.

Now, Harden has his own team in Houston and the front office has made significant moves to put players around him that can compete. It seems to have all come to fruition this season with the additions of Chris Paul and others.

Time will tell if the Rockets really do have what it takes to knock off the Warriors. After all, that’s the only measure that matters when it comes to Houston’s success as a basketball team.

But for the time being, the Rockets have done something only the Warriors have been able to do for the past several years — strike fear into the rest of the NBA.
