Rockets news: Daryl Morey’s tweet had redditors read into it, as 1984 reference was when Carmelo Anthony was born

It’s been no secret that the Houston Rockets are a potential landing spot for Carmelo Anthony, who continues to be surrounded with a lot of uncertainty about his future. Although it has been reported multiple times that he is willing to waive the no-trade clause in his contract to join the team, he still remains with the New York Knicks, with no clear signs of what jersey he’ll wear on opening night.

Rockets general manager Daryl Morey added more fuel to the fire of a potential blockbuster deal for the 10-time All-Star, when he posted a tweet that prompted redditors to read about what he meant by it. After some research, it became clear to many that he made a reference to 1984, which happens to be year Anthony was born.

Talk about wearing the tinfoil hat.

Although it’s unclear what Morey exactly meant with his tweet, it still sparked a lot of chatter that he may be referencing to other teams who are considered powerhouses, and that more help will come their way in the form of Anthony. For now, it’s still a waiting game if his team will be able to pull off a deal with the Knicks, but they are trying to find ways to make it happen.

Carmelo Anthony’s potential addition to the Rockets would allow them to form their own Big 3 together with James Harden and Chris Paul, which would further increase their chances of winning next campaign. Anthony would add more star power to their lineup, and another reliable scorer, which they can use to their advantage against some of the other favorites in the Western Conference like the Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs.

Despite all the distractions since last year, the 33-year-old Syracuse product still had a very solid season, with averages of 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
