Rockets news: Chris Paul ‘felt natural’ playing alongside James Harden

There are high expectations for the Houston Rockets after they acquired Chris Paul to pair up with James Harden. Fortunately for the team, everything seems to be working out well for their new backcourt duo.

In fact, Paul himself speaks highly of his new-formed partnership with The Beard, especially after their first game together in the preseason.

“It felt natural,” Paul told ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Royce Young after their 104-97 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“We played a lot this summer, and I think that helped, spending that time talking about communicating and stuff like that. But we can always get better.”

Chris Paul and James Harden didn’t shoot well during the game, with the latter making just five of his 16 attempts from the field. However, the two All-Stars combined for 17 assists as the Rockets made 24 shots from beyond the arc.

The former L.A. Clippers guard was particularly explosive, even dishing out five assists on 3-pointers during a four-minute stretch in the first half.

This isn’t the first time Paul talked about playing alongside Harden, as he previously said he’s excited about what they can do and achieve together. Nonetheless, it’s undoubtedly great to see it firsthand that they are meshing well.

Chris Paul and James Harden still have a lot of work to do to bring the Rockets to the next level, but their good start will certainly raise hopes in the upcoming 2017-18 NBA season.
