Rockets’ Mike D’Antoni says team is in ‘good spot’

According to head coach Mike D’Antoni, the Houston Rockets are in a “good spot.”

Following the Rockets’ 124-115 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, D’Antoni did a little bit of damage control. That would be because Houston lost their third straight game. Perhaps most disheartening was the fact that the Lakers did it without Anthony Daivs.

Despite the fact that Houston has lost four out of their past five games, D’Antoni isn’t stressing. The veteran head coach is stressing that the Rockets are in a good spot right now.

Via Joe Vardon of The Athletic:

“We’re not in a bad spot, so don’t let anybody put us there,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said. “We’re in a good spot.”

The Rockets led this game by as many as 11 points and still couldn’t finish off the Lakers. The deciding factor was the third quarter. Houston went just 6-of-27 from the field and 1-of-11 from beyond the arc in the third quarter. The Lakers outscored Houston by 15 points in the period.

Despite their rough stretch, D’Antoni was once again stressed he’s not panicking.

“We have a little rough patch,” D’Antoni said. “Nothing’s wrong, we just need to play better. And we will. Hopefully starting tomorrow night, and if not, the next night after that.”

At 26-15, the Rockets dropped to sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
