Rockets’ Kenneth Faried, Iman Shumpert questionable vs. Raptors

The Houston Rockets have been on a roll lately. After a win in Boston against the Celtics on Sunday, the Rockets have ratcheted up their win streak to five games. The two-game road trip will continue Monday night as Houston is slotted to take on the Toronto Raptors. However, they could be taking to court sans Iman Shumpert and Kenneth Faried. According to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, both Faried and Shumpert are listed as questionable ahead of their matchup.

A matchup that would have already been tough for the Rockets is looking like it may be a little tougher, as they will possibly be without two of their recent acquisitions.

In their last game against the Raptors, Faried came up big and was much of the reason Houston came away with the win. Due to injury, the Rockets trotted out only an eight-man rotation against Toronto, where Faried started and played almost 38 minutes. He finished the night with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks, with six of his boards being offensive rebounds.

This wasn’t unusual, as his numbers since joining the team have been outstanding. Having played 16 games since signing with his new team, Faried is averaging 14.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game. He is also shooting an incredible 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.

Iman Shumpert hasn’t seen as much action with the team following their acquisition of him via trade but has had a positive impact. Despite the numbers not being there for him, his value to the team comes from his efforts on the defensive end. His ability to take on tough wing assignments would have definitely come in handy against Toronto.

With much of the remainder of the roster finally healthy, hopefully, the absence of Faried and Shumpert won’t rock the boat too much for the Rockets.
