Rockets’ James Harden’s inspiring message to Austin Rivers during his 41-point outing vs. Kings

James Harden, Austin Rivers, Rockets

Houston Rockets combo guard Austin Rivers went off for a career-high 41 points on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings and he received some special words of encouragement during the game from superstar James Harden.

After the Rockets defeated the Kings thanks to Rivers’ stellar game, he spoke about how Harden has inspired him to become a hard worker and better basketball player.

When the Rockets see their best players in James Harden and Russell Westbrook working tremendously hard in practices alone, they have no choice but to work hard and match that intensity.

It appears Harden and Westbrook’s work ethic has rubbed off well on Austin Rivers. The Rockets are going to need Rivers to play at a high level in the 2020 playoffs if the team wants to finally get over the hump and win a title in the Harden era.

Rivers is averaging 8.9 points per game on the season for the Rockets, but he’s putting up 14.4 points per game in the bubble. Houston has only lost once at Disney World and should be getting veteran scoring guard Eric Gordon back soon.

Everyone keeps talking about the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers out West, but the Rockets could make some serious noise themselves in the postseason.

To close out the seeding games, Houston will face the San Antonio Spurs, Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers.
