The Houston Rockets got a much-needed boost as Chris Paul returned to action after missing a few games due to a hamstring injury. They were able to beat the visiting Orlando Magic 103-98, and James Harden told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle that he’s impressed with what he saw in Paul’s return.

“He looked like he had extra pep in his step. He made that spin move and some other moves, too to check his body and how he felt. He looked great. It was good to see him back on the floor.”

Paul scored 12 points, dished out six assists, and grabbed five rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field. And while there are some obvious signs of rust, he was able to facilitate the Rockets’ offense and take much of the pressure off of Harden.

The Rockets have now won three straight games to remain in the fifth spot of the Western Conference standings. Harden made his presence felt on the offensive end once again, dropping 40 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.

If Paul can return to his peak form in time, he would be able to help Harden and the Rockets get more wins.

Of course, are trying to pick up where they left off last season. They were a few minutes away from advancing to the NBA Finals before falling to the eventual champions Golden State Warriors in the Conference Finals.

Without Paul in Game 7 of that series, the Rockets struggled in their offensive execution, leading to one of the worst shooting nights in playoff history.
