Dwayne Wade will retire at the end of the 2018-19 season as one of the best shooting guards of all time. There’s even a legitimate case to be made that the Miami Heat legend should rank ahead of Kobe Bryant in the league’s historical hierarchy, leaving him behind only the untouchable Michael Jordan in the list of the game’s best at his position. James Harden continues shouldering his way up those rankings, too, with every step-back three, herky-jerky drive, and seemingly routine 40-point outing. Could the Houston Rockets superstar surpass Wade by the time his career is finished? Absolutely.
Harden, of course, is one of the best ever at a skill Wade never quite developed: three-point shooting. Unfortunately, it’s much too late for the 37-year-old to add that trait to his game now, so Wade is doing all he can to ensure his son won’t suffer the same weakness that plagued him throughout his 16-year career. And who better to teach the high school junior how to torch defenses from beyond the arc than Harden?
