Rockets’ James Harden takes a page out of LeBron James, deactivates Instagram account

James Harden was on point again for the Houston Rockets on Sunday, as they took down the league-best Milwaukee Bucks in a hard-fought encounter, 120-116. One of the reasons why Harden has been so tremendous since the season restart might juts be attributed to the former MVP’s decision to take a social media hiatus — a move that was made famous by Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

For LeBron, he usually deactivates his social media accounts prior to the playoffs, in order to help him focus on the task at hand. Harden’s iteration, however, seems a bit more extreme, with the Rockets guard’s boycott starting way before he entered the bubble. This is via Sreehari Menon of Reupblicworld.com.

According to Reddit users, James Harden appeared to deactivate his account back in January and likely wanted to take a break from the Instagram scrutiny. While ‘The Beard’ has deleted his Instagram account, he remains active on Twitter, but last tweeted in May.

To be fair, Harden is not really a big social media guy, so this is not as surprising as if a guy like LeBron decided to act in a similar manner. Nevertheless, this is yet another indication from Harden that he is willing to do anything and everything at this point to finally achieve what he has long striven for — an NBA championship.

It seems to be working for him, with Harden currently putting up 73 points over the last two games on 55.9 percent shooting, along with six triples, 16 boards, 15 dimes, nine steals, and three blocks. If there was any doubt about Harden’s fitness coming into the restart, then that should all have been erased at this point.
