Rockets’ James Harden says NBA moms have secret meetings to talk behind backs of sons

James Harden, Rockets

When a player comes into the NBA, they aren’t the only person to become famous in their family. A lot of times moms also take on a life of their own and enjoy a little time in the spotlight. Everyone knows Draymond Green’s mom, for example, is very outspoken on Twitter about just about everything.

But according to James Harden in his recent interview with GQ, the moms actually take it a step forward. They hold secret meetings where they complain about their sons and talk behind their backs.

“My mom—she hangs out with, like, moms of other players that I don’t even talk to,” Harden says, amused.

How does that happen?

“There are mom meetings, things like that.”

You’re joking, right?

“No, I’m serious. Mom meetings. That makes me happy, ’cause they get to talk about their sons behind our backs. She deserves that.”

Just like NBA players have their fraternities and meetups during the offseason evidently it is the same for the mothers of these players.

Although for Harden’s mom there can’t be a ton to complain about anymore. He has led the Rockets to the best record in the NBA and they really look like a team that should win the NBA title this year. On the season Harden is averaging 30.4 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game and he also should be taking home the MVP award this year. He is also shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the field.
