Rockets’ James Harden reveals why his trip to Orlando bubble was delayed

Houston Rockets star James Harden has finally joined his team in Orlando, noting that “family issues” delayed his arrival, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Earlier reports noted that Harden did not travel with the Rockets when the team arrived at Disney some five days ago. Rumors suggested that Harden might have tested positive for the coronavirus but the team did not reveal any information. Harden actually arrived in Orlando a few days ago but had to quarantine himself in his hotel room, per league protocol.

After his first practice session with the Rockets — which also happened to be his first 5-on-5 scrimmage in months — Harden highlighted his love for the game. No matter what happens, he’ll keep on playing ball. Per Tim MacMahon of ESPN:

“I think the world knows, no matter what’s going on, James Harden loves to hoop,” said Harden, who is averaging 34.4 points per game and is a virtual lock to claim his third consecutive NBA scoring title. “He’s a competitor, so today in practice we got after it. We played a couple of quarters and we pushed ourselves, and I’m doing a lot of trash talking as usual, just to get the guys motivated and keep pushing.”

The Rockets are still awaiting the arrival of Russell Westbrook, who tested positive for COVID-19 this week. The Mike D’Antoni-coached squad is also awaiting the arrival of recent addition Luc Mbah a Moute.

In the 2019-20 season restart, the Rockets will face the Dallas Mavericks, followed by the Milwaukee Bucks, the Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, and the San Antonio Spurs.
