Rockets’ James Harden responds to fan’s quip about his poor shooting

James Harden

Houston Rockets cornerstone superstar James Harden has not had the best of starts to the new season. In his team’s opening two contests, the former Most Valuable Player winner has been absolutely atrocious from the field, going for a combined 10-of-42 for a miserable 23.8 percent shooting clip.

For his part, however, Harden does not seem to be overly concerned. Winning is still the most important thing for the 30-year-old, as proven by his feisty retort on the mean streets of Twitter:

The Rockets did squeeze out a win on Saturday against the New Orleans Pelicans, but it wasn’t as easy a victory for Houston as most would have expected.

The Pelicans were missing the services of rookie phenom Zion Williamson (torn meniscus) and star point guard Jrue Holiday (knee sprain) against the Rockets, but they were still able to put up quite a fight, which was thanks in large part to Brandon Ingram’s 35-point, 15-rebound double-double.

As for Harden, while he did score 29 points, he also went 8-of-29 from the floor (2-of-18 from distance) and committed eight turnovers, so it would be safe to say that this was an off night for the seven-time All-Star.

As Harden said, though, what’s important is that his team got the W. The Rockets are now 1-1 to start the new season, following a 117-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

Harden and company will be back in action on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, so this should present the two-time scoring champ with a great opportunity to finally break loose against his former team.
