Rockets’ James Harden passes Kobe Bryant on all-time playoff threes list

James Harden, Kobe Bryant, Lakers, Rockets

Houston Rockets superstar guard James Harden has passed Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on the all-time playoff threes list, per Cayleigh Griffin of AT&T SportsNet.

It’s fitting that Harden did it on (8/24) Mamba Day.

Kobe Bryant was James Harden’s idol growing up in California. His tragic death is still on the minds of everyone in the NBA and players are certainly playing for Kobe and Gigi down at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Harden entered Game 4 against the Oklahoma City Thunder with playoff averages of 23.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.6 assists with the Thunder and Rockets. He’s certainly one of the best playoff performers of his generation, but his lack of a championship is the one blemish on his résumé.

If Harden wants to go down as an all-time great like Bryant, he’s got to start winning some titles. The Rockets are the only team in the NBA with two MVPs leading the charge in Harden and Russell Westbrook. Once Westbrook returns from his quad injury, the Rockets will have a good chance to win the title assuming they play smart basketball on both ends of the floor.

Assuming Harden and the Rockets take care of the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs, Houston would face the winner of the Lakers-Portland Trail Blazers series.
