Rockets’ James Harden out vs. Nuggets, doubtful vs. Jazz

Rockets, James Harden

Houston Rockets superstar James Harden will not play in Sunday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets. He’ll be doubtful to play in Monday’s game against the Utah Jazz according to the team’s injury report. Harden suffered a left thigh contusion injury in Friday’s win over the Timberwolves. Teammate Russell Westbrook will also be sitting on Monday’s game against the Jazz.

Harden has played phenomenal this season averaging an astonishing 36.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in 37.0 minutes. He’s shooting 43.9 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from behind the arc. However, Harden has struggled in his last nine games missing 80 of his last 100 three-point attempts and shooting 33.3 percent.

Nonetheless, Harden is having another stellar MVP season as he’s leading the league in points per game. He’s currently on pace to win his third consecutive scoring title this year.

The former MVP has appeared in 43 of the Rockets’ 44 games this season, he’ll only be missing his second game of the season. The Rockets have relied heavily on their superstars Harden and Westbrook. They’ll certainly need both them on the court as they lost five of their last eight games. Guards Eric Gordon and Ben McLemore will certainly need to step up in place of Harden’s absence.

The Rockets are currently tied for the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 28-16. They’ll be seeking to extend their win streak as they travel to Denver to play the Nuggets. They’ll continue their three-game road streak against the Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers this upcoming week.
