Rockets’ James Harden out vs. Mavs tonight, will play tomorrow vs. Spurs

James Harden

With the season winding down Mike D’Antoni is deciding to get some of his players rest starting with Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. This is according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN. James Harden won’t be playing the game against the Mavericks but will be playing in Monday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs.

He is dealing with a little bit of knee soreness and although they aren’t concerned about the injury they just wanted to give him an extra night off.

With the Houston Rockets playing a back to back on Sunday and Monday night. the Rockets have elected to only play him in the game on Monday night.

Even though the Rockets are playing a down Mavs team, it’s still a huge game for the Rockets. With the Golden State Warriors losing on Sunday against the Minnesota Timberwolves it moved the Rockets to a one-game lead in the Western Conference.

If they can beat the Mavs without Harden that will move the lead to 1.5 games and the Rockets would have to feel pretty good about their chances to get the number one overall seed in the playoffs.

In this game on Sunday night looking for a big game for Chris Paul. It also will give more playing time for other backcourt members like Joe Johnson, Eric Gordon, and Gerald Green.
