Rockets’ James Harden joins Stephen Curry as only players to make 10-plus triples consecutively

Apart from being the best scorer in the league this year, Houston Rockets guard James Harden is also on a league of his own when it comes to dialing it from deep in the early goings of the 2019-20 NBA regular season.

Harden became just the second player in NBA history to record back-to-back games with 10 3-pointers, joining Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Stephen Curry.

The Beard torched the Orlando Magic with 54 points on Friday, leading his team to a convincing 130-107 victory. He made 10 of his 15 attempts from 3-point territory (66.7 percent) while shooting 19-of-31 from the field.

Harden also drilled 10 triples in the Rockets’ 116-110 victory versus the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he notched 55 points and eight assists.

The 30-year-old seven-time All-Star is most likely to win the scoring title this year, tallying averages of 39.3 points while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 36.3 from distance in 25 games so far. Even with the arrival of fellow ball-dominant superstar Russell Westbrook, Harden’s effectiveness has shot up the boards, as he also rakes in 5.9 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.0 steals in 37.8 minutes per contest.

With Curry expected to be out for the whole year, Harden will also likely to have the most three-pointers for back-to-back seasons. He made 378 threes last year and is on track to better that milestone with the way he is playing so far. Harden has been chucking up 13.2 attempts from past the arc each game, while making 4.8 of those tries.

Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has made the 3-pointers in a single game this season (13) but only Harden has managed to connect on more than 10 for two consecutive matches.

With the way coach Mike D’Antoni’s offense is designed, expect Harden to break more records as the season progress.
