Houston Rockets star guard James Harden has joined Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon as the only players in franchise history to earn three straight All-NBA First Team nods.

Olajuwon accomplished the feat from 1987-1989. Harden was named to the first team All-NBA squad on Thursday.

Harden had another spectacular season in 2019-20. The Rockets guard led the NBA in scoring again at 36.1 points while shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Harden scored at least 30 points in 32 straight games. The reigning MVP scored at least 50 points in nine games and had two games of 61 points. Harden recorded 34 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles.

The Rockets won 53 games and were the fourth seed in the Western Conference standings. They defeated the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs in five games, but lost to the Golden State Warriors in the second round in six games.

Harden has established himself as one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. Anytime you can put your name next to Hakeem Olajuwon, who was one of the most dominant players during his playing days, you are doing something right with your career.

Harden is a finalist for the MVP award along with Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George.
