Rockets’ James Harden, Clint Capela questionable vs. Blazers

Houston Rockets guard James Harden and center Clint Capela are both questionable to play in Wednesday’s showdown against the Portland Trailblazers. According to the team’s injury report, Harden has a bruised left thigh and Capela has a right heel contusion. Both players were out in Monday’s surprising 126-117 win over the Utah Jazz.

Harden has played phenomenal this season averaging an astonishing 36.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in 37.0 minutes. However, he has struggled in his last nine games missing 80 of his last 100 three-point attempts. Nonetheless, the former MVP is having another stellar season so far. Harden is leading the league in points and is on pace to win his third consecutive scoring title.

Harden has appeared in 43 of the Rockets’ 45 games this season and will only be missing his third game if he doesn’t play on Wednesday. However, the Rockets will certainly need Harden in the lineup on Wednesday as they’ve have struggled this month. They have lost the past five of their last nine games.

Meanwhile, Capela has played outstanding this season averaging 14.2 points, 13.9 boards, and 1.9 blocks in 33.2 minutes. The 25-year-old is ranked fourth in the league in rebounds per game. The Rockets will severely need Capela on both sides of the floor in the upcoming games this week. Capela has already missed four games over the past month with a right heel contusion.

The Rockets are currently tied for the fifth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 29-17. They’ll be seeking to extend their win streak as they travel to Portland to finish their four-game road trip.
