Rockets’ James Harden, Chris Paul met after season to discuss future, had positive conversation on Father’s Day

Perhaps the relationship between Houston Rockets stars James Harden and Chris Paul isn’t so irreparable after all.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Harden and Paul met after the season to discuss their future and had a positive conversation on Father’s Day.

Now, it doesn’t sound like their relationship is perfect, as Charania adds that Harden and Paul are still working out their issues. However, the reports about Paul not being able to stand playing with Harden and wanting out now seem a bit over the top.

Also, it doesn’t look like the Rockets are trying to trade Paul. In fact, Houston seems to be pursuing a third star and is reportedly interested in conducting a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for Jimmy Butler — a potential trade in which the Rockets could send Clint Capela, Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker.

The Rockets are coming off of a 2018-19 campaign in which they won 53 games and notched the fourth seed in the Western Conference. They then proceeded to eliminate the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs before going on to lose to the Golden State Warriors in the second round in six games.

Houston has lost to Golden State in four of its last five playoff appearances, including twice in the conference finals.

The Rockets’ high-water mark came during the 2017-18 campaign when they won 65 games and pushed the Warriors to a Game 7 in the conference finals.
