Rockets’ James Ennis eyeing return after Christmas

James Ennis, Rockets

Houston Rockets small forward James Ennis will miss the next 1-2 weeks with a strained right hamstring. The swingman is looking to get back on the court some time after Christmas.

This is the second time James Ennis has been sidelined with a hamstring ailment this season. Hamstring injuries are really tricky, as they can flare up at any moment.

“Hopefully, a little bit after Christmas or Christmas Day,” Ennis said of when he could return, via  Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “It all depends on body and how it reacts.”

In 23 games this season, James Ennis is averaging 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. The 28-year-old is shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 36.3 percent from beyond the arc and 71.0 percent from the free-throw line. Ennis signed a two-year, $3.46 million deal with the Rockets in July.

Houston is 14-14 on the year, 10th place in the Western Conference. The team is starting to play better basketball as of late. Getting James Ennis back into the rotation will help the Rockets on both sides of the ball. He’s a good defender and someone who can space the floor for shooting guard James Harden and point guard Chris Paul.
