Rockets have playoff record for longest streak with at least 10 threes

James Harden, Rockets

The Houston Rockets have been on a proverbial roll for much of this season. As most hoops fans know, they racked up the most wins of any team during the regular season, claiming the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference with a 65-17 overall record.

Now that Red Nation is deep into the Playoffs, their solid play continues to shine through, especially from beyond the arc.

Just how good has Houston been from range in the postseason? Frankly… really good. According to Chief Data Officer Justin Kubatko of StatMuse, the Rockets have made at least 10 three-pointers in each of their last 18 playoff games, which is good for the longest such streak in NBA postseason history.

Although they were defeated in Game 1 of their Western Conference Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors, the Rockets managed to bounce back on Wednesday night with a convincing 127-105 victory, tying the series at one game apiece.

Both James Harden and Eric Gordon scored 27 points on Wednesday night. Collectively, Houston had five players score 16 points or more and went 16-of-42 on three-point attempts (38.1 percent).

“We can beat anybody, anywhere at any time playing the way we play,” Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni told ESPN during his post-game presser.

For the record, Golden State hadn’t lost Game 2 of a playoff series since the 2015 NBA Finals.

“We got outplayed the whole game … we got it handed to us,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “You can look at it any way you want … and parcel it out, but it didn’t matter who we had out there tonight we got beat.”

Game 3 is scheduled to tip inside Oracle Arena at 8:00 p.m. EST on Sunday night with TNT having live broadcast coverage. Let’s see if the Rockets can keep their momentum rolling.
