Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon will not play in tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers in what could have been a return to his hometown. Gordon sustained a right adductor strain injury and did not also play in the Rockets’ previous win over the Chicago Bulls.
Scott Agness of The Athletic tweeted out this development from the Rockets camp.
Indy native Eric Gordon (Right Adductor Strain) has been ruled out tonight. This is the third game of a five-game road trip for the Rockets.

Eric Gordon, 30, has been struggling with his shots during the team’s first seven games this season. Despite seeing more minutes due to absences of Chris Paul and James Harden, Gordon is still three points below his scoring average last season. He is also shooting a career-low 24% from beyond the arc and a lowly 32% from the field.
The former Sixth Man of the Year has been rumored to be part of a trade package that could bring Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Jimmy Butler to Houston. Per ESPN’s Malika Andrews, it came to the point that the Wolves has made it ‘mandatory’ for the Rockets to involve Gordon if they want the deal to push through.
But the Rockets front office has been reluctant to let go of their 6-foot-4 sweet-shooting guard. Gordon has been an integral part of the team’s deep postseason run last year, and his ability to be a threat on both ends of the floor is valuable for the Rockets.
Gordon is also on a team-friendly contract as Houston just owe him $27.5 million for the next two years. With how lucrative contracts are given out here and there, Gordon’s contract is still a bargain given how important he is to the team.
