Rockets guard Austin Rivers reveals Houston has been his ‘favorite place to play’

Austin Rivers, Rockets

Houston Rockets combo guard Austin Rivers says Houston has been his “favorite place to play” in the NBA.

Rivers began his NBA career with the New Orleans Pelicans back in 2012. He has since played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Washington Wizards and Rockets.

“I love it, bro. It’s been my favorite place to play. Of all the teams I’ve played for, [they’re] the team that I’ve had the most fun,” Rivers said on the Behind the Baller podcast, via Rockets Wire.

“And I love the Clippers fans, I was very appreciative for my time there. But in terms of the most fun I’ve had playing basketball, like in front of a crowd, is the Rockets.

“I love our fans. I love the Rockets fans. Shout-out to all the Rockets fans out there, for real. Houston fans, in general, they support. They’ve got a dope basketball team, obviously, with us. You’ve got a great MLB team [Astros], a great NFL team [Texans]… it’s a very, very good sports town. We’ve got a great hip-hop culture down there. It’s a dope city.”

Austin Rivers re-signed with the Rockets this offseason on a two-year deal worth $4.54 million. He reportedly turned down more lucrative offers to play elsewhere because he loved his time with Houston last season.

Now 27, Rivers has career averages of 9.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 484 NBA games.
