Rockets GM Daryl Morey takes shot at Jeff Van Gundy’s Warriors pick

For the last three years, the Golden State Warriors have dominated the NBA. In 2015, the Warriors seemingly came out of nowhere to win their first championship in the Stephen Curry-era against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Their historic offensive prowess backed by their incredible defensive abilities made them virtually unstoppable.

At this time, Curry dazzled crowds with his amazing 3-point shooting, winning the MVP award at the end of the season. In 2016, the Warriors were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in an amazing 7-game series, but they still dominated much of the season. Curry was the league’s best player, scoring over 30 points per game and shooting with historic efficiency.

After their embarrassing loss in the 2016 Finals, the Warriors signed former 2014 MVP Kevin Durant. Durant alone is one of the best players in the league, if not the best. Signing him meant that the Warriors possessed two efficient scorers, a tandem that has proved disastrous for every single one of their opponents last season. After a few bumps and hardships in the regular season, the Warriors woke up in the postseason and destroyed their way to a championship in 2017.

As a result, many teams have strengthened their rosters to avoid another year of Warriors dominance. The Rockets have been considered to be a true threat to the Warriors title plans, but analyst Jeff Van Gundy though otherwise, believing that this season is all wrapped up for the defending champions. Rockets GM Daryl Morey took offense at this proclamation and clapped back at the former head coach on Twitter.

Jeff Van Gundy has always been a Warriors supporter since they won the championship back in 2015. Rightfully so, the Warriors have shown that they don’t truly turn up the intensity until the postseason, so the Rockets could potentially be in for a rude awakening. Of course, Daryl Morey is going to side with his team, regardless of the odds stacked against them.
