Rockets GM Daryl Morey says Chris Paul and James Harden are not available in trades, wants to add a 3rd superstar this summer

Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey says point guard Chris Paul and shooting guard James Harden are not available in trades this summer.

Morey also says he wants to add a third superstar next to Paul and Harden this offseason. For that to happen, the Rockets GM admits a sign-and-trade would likely need to occur since Houston doesn’t have cap space to sign a star free agent.

There has been a lot of noise surrounding Paul, Harden and the Rockets lately. Multiple reports have come out stating the two All-Stars aren’t getting along and Houston is actively looking to part ways with Paul, who has a lucrative contract.

Even if Morey wants to trade Paul, he’s not going to get anything of value in return. The Rockets would most likely have to take on bad contracts in a potential Paul trade. The best thing Houston can hope for is some sort of sign-and-trade scenario involving a star free agent. Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker haven’t been linked to the Rockets.

Houston tried to acquire Jimmy Butler at the beginning of the season. If the Philadelphia 76ers get the sense that Butler is looking to leave Philly, they could possibly be interested in a sign-and-trade deal so they don’t lose the four-time All-Star for nothing.

Nevertheless, Morey is going to have to pull off some magic this summer if he intends to add a third star.
