Rockets GM Daryl Morey not backing off claim that James Harden is the greatest offensive player of all time
Earlier in the season, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said Rockets superstar shooting guard James Harden is the best offensive player of all time, and he received a lot of flack for it.
But like any loyal boss, Morey isn’t backing down from his claim and once again reiterated at All-Star weekend that Harden is the greatest offensive weapon in NBA history.
“When I said it, every show was like, ‘Daryl Morey has lost his mind,’ ” Morey told FS1’s Kristine Leahy. “He is part of the offense more than any player really in history, and he’s super efficient. So anyone in the past whose shot as much as him this year has been inefficient.
“We have a top offense in the league for a reason. He’s making everything. It’s hard to complain about it.”
Entering Thursday night’s game against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, James Harden has scored at least 30 points in 31 consecutive games, a feat which hasn’t been done since the legendary Wilt Chamberlain was playing in the NBA.
Harden leads the league in scoring at 36.6 points per game. He has almost single-handedly brought the Rockets back from the dead and into the playoff picture in the Western Conference.
