Rockets GM Daryl Morey hints at signing of Corey Brewer

Houston Rockets general manager and roster builder extraordinaire, Daryl Morey may not be done with the final roster going into training camp.

The loss of Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute has left the Rockets with a huge void in the defensive wing department. The recent additions of former Thunder star Carmelo Anthony and James Ennis aren’t exactly classified as upgrades on the defensive end.  As the season nears, Morey might have some last minute moves to fill that lapse.

Morey took to Instagram recently with a picture of veteran wing Corey Brewer. He is seen wearing a Rockets shirt alongside a bearded Brewer.

The executive and the veteran journeyman have already shared some history with Brewer having stints with Houston for his 11 years in the league. It may be too likely to be a random happenstance for these two to just bump into each other.

Moreover, based on his Instagram and Morey’s track record, all signs may lead to Brewer being in Rockets uniform again. His inclusion to the roster will be a significant move to bolster things at the wing spot on the defensive end.

After being traded to the Thunder from the Lakers, Brewer had a productive run averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 2.1 steals.

If he can replicate some of his production in the minutes that he will be given behind the Rockets primary wings, he might turn out to be one of the best acquisitions headed into the season.
