Houston Rockets guard Gerald Green says “it’s fun” playing with star guard and reigning MVP James Harden despite what people on the outside say.
James Harden is a ball-dominant player, so a lot of people believe some of the Rockets don’t like playing with him. Gerald Green, however, says that’s not the case at all.
I asked Gerald Green, also a #funanalyst, on Friday if it’s fun playing with James Harden: “Man, it’s fun, especially for me because I like to shoot. When you got a guy who is willing to pass like that, for me it’s all about getting open……..But it’s fun. It’s really fun.”

Harden is having one of the most dominant seasons in NBA history in terms of scoring. The now seven-time All-Star is averaging a league-leading 36.3 points per game. The Beard is also averaging 6.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists while shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 86.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Harden has scored at least 30 points in 23 consecutive games. He’s averaging a whopping 42.7 points during that stretch, all while dishing out 8.2 assists. Green believes a lot of the players on Houston get wide-open looks because of the attention Harden attracts from opposing defenses, and it’s something they won’t find elsewhere.
As expected, Harden leads the NBA in usage percentage at 40.6. The next player on the list is Sixers big man Joel Embiid, who has a usage percentage of 33.1. It’s unclear if this style of basketball can be successful in the postseason, but nevertheless, Green says the Rockets are having fun.
