Rockets G Eric Gordon reacts to shocking DeAndre Hopkins trade

Rockets. Texans, Eric Gordon, DeAndre Hopkins

The Houston Texans shocked the sports world on Monday when they traded All-Pro wideout DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. Like many Texans, Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon is really surprised the trade went down.

Hopkins is considered by many to be the best wide receiver in the NFL. The four-time Pro Bowler had 104 receptions last season for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns. Those are numbers which the Texans won’t be able to duplicate.

Gordon and the Rockets have a bunch of free time on their hands now that the NBA season is suspended. Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus last Wednesday and the NBA immediately suspended the 2019-20 season.

Houston went 40-24 before the season was suspended. If the campaign resumes in June or July, the Rockets will be in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Gordon has appeared in 34 games for the Rockets this season. He’s averaging 14.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 28.6 minutes per contest. The former Sixth Man of the Year is also shooting 37.0 percent from the field, 31.9 percent from beyond the arc and 75.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Like Eric Gordon, fans of the Texans are really hurting right now after the DeAndre Hopkins trade. And to make matters worse, they can’t even watch the Rockets or Houston Astros for that matter since the MLB has suspended play as well.

Here’s to hoping sports are back soon, but not before the coronavirus pandemic is put to a halt. The safety of everyone is more important than sports at the moment.
