Rockets fans are losing faith in James Harden
The James Harden situation is quickly becoming a nightmare for the Houston Rockets. First, there were reports that both Russell Westbrook and James Harden wanted to be traded. The Rockets ultimately traded Westbrook for John Wall, whom Harden reportedly preferred. Harden supposedly got what he wanted, but now he’s not showing up to training camp when he said he would and has been seen partying in Atlanta and Las Vegas. This is a tough scenario for new head coach Stephen Silas, but it also would be a violation of the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols during the season.
Jackson Gatlin: Every move that Harden has made at the start of this season, every decision that he has made at this point or not made at this point, is poorly reflecting on his person and on his value as a leader for this organization. There are a lot of Rockets fans that are already turning on him. There are a lot of people that are sick of the shenanigans and wish that he would just grow up and actually act like the leader of this team.
Until we know exactly what the situation is with Harden, until he reports to Rockets training camp, and until we see video footage of him on the Toyota Center court getting shots up participating in drills, I’m going to take everything with a grain of salt because it’s hard to trust what he’s actually going to do at this point. It’s hard to sit here and say that this team has a legitimate shot at making the playoffs. On paper they look really good because they’ve gotten more versatile. They’ve got more talent and that’s the most frustrating issue in all of it is that between Silas and all these new players, James Harden doesn’t even look like he’s giving it a chance at this point.
