Rockets’ Eric Gordon says ‘no other team but us’ can compete with the Warriors

Houston Rockets shooting guard Eric Gordon is very confident about his team’s chances of defeating the Golden State Warriors this season.

Gordon and the Rockets were one game away from reaching the NBA Finals last season. Many believe if Houston All-Star point guard Chris Paul didn’t hurt his hamstring in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, that it would have been the Rockets, and not the Warriors, playing in the Finals.

The Rockets and Warriors face off in Houston on Wednesday. Eric Gordon says there isn’t another team in the NBA who can compete with the Dubs like the Rockets do.

“We’re peaking at the right time,” Gordon told Marc Stein of the New York Times. “I think we’re right there with them.

“We’re a lot smaller than last year — we’re a different team — but we match up well with them. I really do believe there’s no other team but us that can really have a chance against them.”

Houston is on fire right now. They have won nine games in a row and are scoring at will, just like last season.

James Harden leads the NBA in scoring at 36.2 points per game. The Rockets are 3-0 this season against the Dubs and defeated the Warriors the previous game without the services of Harden.

Gordon has been consistent all season, as the guard is averaging 16.6 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 40.4 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from beyond the arc.
